Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC), a public limited company and subsidiary of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation, established under section 42 of the Companies ordinance 1984 is mandated to initiate multiple projects to uplift the existing set-up of marble and granite sector. These projects are set-up according to the best international practices, deployment of the latest technology and technical studies. These projects have transformed Pakistan’s dimension sector to a great extent yet there remains room for improvement.

Since inception PASDEC has adopted three prong strategies to uplift the sector comprising mining, processing and marketing. While making the strategy PASDEC focused on rise in value chain productivity, Investment in workforce, export marketing, promote strategic partnerships (J.V. & D.F.I.), develop industrial & market information, and cluster development.

Despite having the technological unacceptability in marble, granite and onyx mining sector, PASDEC introduced the latest mining machinery and techniques to build the foundations specifically on international standards. The international standards were met mainly by better quality and mass scale square block production.

PASDEC, beside a granite quarrying project, has successfully established fourteen (14) marble quarrying projects based on international norms and practices, spread across the county mainly in Balochistan and KPK. In addition to above, PASDEC also intends to extend its wings further by starting the onyx and additional granite projects to meet the domestic and international demands.

PASDEC has also intervened in marble and granite processing sector by establishing a state of the art industrial zone in Risalpur (KPK) and Mohmand Agency (FATA). PASDEC also plans to increase the number of Industrial estates in the near future.

Furthermore, PASDEC is in the process of establishing two Common Facility Training Centers (CFTCs) with most up-to-date cutting and polishing lines in Risalpur and Gaddani to strengthen the processing sector. The machinery imported for these two CFTCs are one of its kinds that has rarely being used in Pakistan to facilitate the small and medium enterprises in processing.

PASDEC, besides tackling with the mining and processing intricacies has also made its own machinery pool to attract the stakeholder to convert from legacy mining methodology to an advanced mind set. These machines are available to mediocre investors who cannot afford to purchase high end machines and technology on affordable rent.

Beside the two machinery pools, that is in Gaddani and Risalpur, keeping in view the demand and adoption, PASDEC has establish another in Risalpur with the help of government of MDTF/KPK.
